I’m an avid reader and I also enjoy writing. I grew up around dogs, cats, and horses, and I have a deep passion for all creatures of the world. On top of teaching, I absolutely and completely adore animals! Kili (as seen in my picture) is my absolute joy in life! I'm especially lucky that he gets to come to work every day with me! When not at work, he has a lot of play dates with other dogs that I happily bring him to! I went to Colorado School of Mines and graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and an interest in Biomechanics but as soon as I graduated, I decided that I enjoyed teaching more than engineering, so I returned to do what I had developed a passion for. This variety in my experience has given me a great understanding for the needs of everyone that walks through my door! During that time, I have worked as an Instructor, Lead Instructor, Assistant Director, and finally, Center Director. I have loved teaching ever since I first discovered Mathnasium in 2012 and have worked on and off for Mathnasium since then. Special thanks to the Biennial of the Americas for partnering on a simultaneous-translation artist talk.Hi! My name is Sierra Richards and I have the privilege of being the Center Director of Mathnasium of Cherry Hills. My version of Zona Rosa (Rose Zone) is about roses, flowers, gardens, eroticism, sensuality, and voluptuousness–a place where everything coexists within a painting’s geography. “The appropriation of this term is totally conscious. It was a zone of tolerance, of “low life” bars, of sex, of options–a place where artists and politicians could coincide,” said Ricardo Rios.

“Zona Rosa” (Rose Zone) was the term created by the Mexican artist and journalist Jose Luis Cuevas in the 1950s, to refer to, in an ironic way, a red zone in the center of a Mexican colony.
